| ....weird. Why'd they decide to do that? Seems kinda... I dunno, I mean the language has been around for quite some time, and I understand changes but like... is there an office of the German language? |

| well.. politicians.. the conference of german cultural ministers.
the goal was to simplify the language. that was in 1996. but everyone got confused and people and publishing companies didn't accept it and so they changed some things back here and some other things there..
and now everything is messed up, hahah..
personally, i just always write "ss" instead of "ß" and keep on using "ph" like before. because "delfin" looks odd.
it's like you'd write it "dolfin". |

| I think you're right. But we also change a lot of words in where pronunciation changes over time. Like if there is a words with an E at the end, but people stopped using the E years ago, they choose not to use it anymore. In the English language they stopped changing those things years ago.
I have a Dutch dictionary here from 1999 and it's the 34th version since 1951. |

The whole language is a metric reform of British English.
But then again maybe I'm just jealous that your language makes more actual sense than mine, even if it's less characterful <_<_________________ The sun's always rising in the sky somewhere...| cooljayhu wrote: | | Tim wrote: | | I see a giant bears head above a doorway. What? |

Hell yeah, if you're going to pick an accent to like in the US, Texan is probably top five if not the number one. |
