I do think this song talks about a taboo relationship, but that does not neccessarily mean gay. (although my personal opinion is that it is about a gay relationship)

It could also be a reference to knowning that the community would disown him after talking to major labels.

I've always thought of this song as being about a 'gay' relationship. However, I never really spend time analysing lyrics, so maybe there's a deeper meaning.

It's almost subliminal, it makes you wanna dance, but it's sad.

Hah. I'm sure Tom isn't that ignorant. Unfortunately some of us are.

However, the idea of someone being ashamed of liking a fat person is really interesting to me. Why does society base a person's value on how much they weigh? It seems kind of silly to me. It's silly to base a person's value on their sexuality and race as well, of course. But I think judging someone based on their size is a newer development in society.

I don't think anyone should be ashamed of who they want to be with, and for people to make someone feel like they should be ashamed is just plain cruel. I think this song is more than just a story of being in a forbidden relationship; I think it's really showing how fucked up society is for putting pressure on people to not only look a certain way, but to prefer certain looks as well.

Hahah, actually I'm a girl. & I just didn't find it really funny, was all. I was trying to make conversation about the song based on what you said, which is what this thread is for. I appreciate your commentary though. It's all good.

I definitely agree with lauren on this one, society is fucked up to put pressure on people to look a certain way.
